AUGUST 2015 new poems

13 Sep

These new poems were posted to Twitter in August 2015.

moonlit meadow
pale shadows rise
where soldiers fell

dictionary’s
pages worn petal-soft
my book of spells

that vacuum begets
an ache that never ends . . .
the childless know

population still exploding
world without enough tears
for all we’ve done to each other

Holocaust, genocide, famine, plague and more.
How much grief does it take to break a heart?
How many deaths would make us stand and act?

flash flood
someone’s tractor
tumbles past

this year
like every other
I wear more masks
some comfort me
some burn

dead frogs floating
on the tainted pond—
this chilling silence

wind in the maples
the winged seeds’ short flight
their somber rustling

"As things are, and as fundamentally they must always be, poetry is not a career, but a mug's game. No honest poet can ever feel quite sure of the permanent value of what he has written: He may have wasted his time and messed up his life for nothing." T.S.Eliot
